| About Supply Chain Intelligence |
| |
| The concept for Supply Chain Intelligence
originated in the Fall of 2000 and came from the founders
of Quest Technologies(1990). |
| |
| Quest Technologies, founded by Don
Wickelgren and Chuck Grissom, had originally developed
and marketed a vehicle routing and scheduling software
program that provided optimized solutions for contracting
to 3rd party carriers full truck loads. This optimized
vehicle routing lead naturally to more strategic questions
for companies that asked for help as to where best to
build new distribution centers to serve their customers.
Quest modified their optimization routines to reverse
engineer least cost shipping, and taking customer demand
points as input, came up with optimal locations for DCs. |
| |
| Some of the greatest difficulties
in providing optimized solutions lie with the inability
to gain access to timely correct data from the system
that manages and maintains the data. The partners discovered
that much of the work required either manual data entry
or tedious customized integration of systems. It was recognized
that until there was a greater integration capability
in the industry, optimized solutions would be elusive.
SC Intelligence was formed to leverage the strengths of
the founders experience in supply chain, optimization
techniques, and cutting edge Internet technologies. |
| |
| The team of Don Wickelgren, Chuck
Grissom, and Ajay Patel have worked together at various
times over the last 15 years in one or the other key areas.
Supply Chain Intelligence was born from discussions between
the founders and was developed from a review of the needs
in the supply chain industry and from a search as to how
Internet technologies could provide value and facilitate
integration into current supply chain initiatives. |
